Yes, this is Talkto.net. We had a soft crash after having been hacked end
of february. The disk slowly started to produce read errors... We just
moved to a new server ... currently on a new location. Everything is new.
New hardware, new OS (Suse11.2), new News server software. This news
server software is somewhat tricky, doesn't behave as expected. I'm
somehat stuck in the configuration and cannot assign top priority to this
project. I'm too busy with other stuff as well...
So - we're working on it. I'm reachable as tschaggelar(_at_)ibrtses(_dot_)com

On a much earlier stage, I tried to have the lot running on a power saving
Synology server but failed due to incompatibilities. The Synology had an
email sender on it, while the news software called for Sendmail. The current
machine takes quite some power, which I consider not reasonable if it
doesn't operate as it should. So read access to the news groups would be doable.
The server hardware is running, the OS is fine, the newsserver runs too,
but it doesn't accept mails at the moment. Plus restarting the server and
rebooting the machine doesn't reach the same state.
I also considered writing a quick program to post the current 350k messages
to a forum on another machine here. On a windows machine, that wouldn't
take too long to write but on a linux machine ... I have bad memories on Kylix.
