Normal mirrored groups create exponential datatransfer due to the mirroring. Therefore they are hardly available anymore. Our personal newsgroups are therefore not mirrored. The users connects through a link on the page of our customers.

messages can be downloaded and saved like email.
messages can be answered offline without the phone bill running. The next time the modem is connected the replies are sent.
They can be searched for keywords in your newsreader both online or offline

They are public, meaning everyone can access them, provided they know of it.

To keep datatransfer low, attachments, such as images, maps, executables are discuraged. The messages expire after a settable period of up to 90 days, the default is 30 days.

The name of the newsgroup is freely choosable, such as 'companyname.support.productxy'

The URL then becomes : news://forums.talkto.net/companyname.support.productxy

and the link will be :

Legal stuff

The server and its contents have to comply with the swiss law. We therefore have to reserve the right to check the contained messages. The customer and the assigned administrator is liable for the posted messages. It is their duty to remove unlawful messages. There are some guidelines which are best copied onto the site of the customer, from which users enters the newsgroup.
